Back in early 2019, a young couple, Jamie & Donna Hallahan were looking at starting their new home build journey contacted Pipelife to enquire about our home heating solutions and the service that we provide.
We know that for anyone building a home, it can be quite daunting and heating that home heating represents the largest annual running cost you will have in ensuring your family’s comfort over many years. The heating system you choose and the supplier you choose to provide it are decisions that will impact on you for decades to come. Having delivered reliable, efficient home heating solutions for over five decades now, Pipelife is a trusted partner for those working in the trade and our technical team work effectively with your appointed architect, BER, specifiers, engineers, installers, electricians, suppliers and builders for your project.
For the Hallahan’s choosing the heating system for their home seemed quite daunting, in that like most people, they did not have an in-depth knowledge of modern heating solutions. At Pipelife we strive to talk to our customers in language that they understand and give them the comfort of knowing that we will take full responsibility for providing them with a design that fully meets their requirements and expectations.
To begin, Jamie and Donna had an initial meeting with our Technical Engineering Team who went through in detail all aspects of our Home Heating Solutions and the recommended system that we felt would work best for them. In this case a solution using an Air to Water Heat Pump coupled with Underfloor Heating. As part of this initial meeting they were also delighted to get a guided tour of our factory where they got to see first-hand the manufacturing process of our leading Qual-Pex Plus+ Easy-Lay Pipe. Knowing that the heart of their heating system, the underfloor heating pipe, was manufactured on-site here in Ireland was very reassuring for Jamie & Donna and was one of the main reasons why they decided to entrust us with their heating solution.
Jamie & Donna commented – “Our new build journey started 4 years ago and it was at the construction drawing phase that we started to think about how we would heat our home. We came across Pipelife and we approached them about providing our heating solution. Being an Irish based company, that manufacturers their own pipe, are in business for over 50 years and provide a 50 year guarantee on their pipe, for us choosing Pipelife was an easy decision”
To begin a full design specification, both mechanical and electrical is produced by our Technical team detailing the design criteria and guidelines from the initial process of laying of the underfloor heating pipe, through to the second stage of connecting these pipes to the plumbing system, commissioning of the system and heating controls layout. Each design is always project specific and is tailored to suit your requirements. For your added confidence and peace of mind we carry full design indemnity insurance that makes us responsible if the installed system fails to meet the designed outputs.
During the installation of both the Underfloor and Heat Pump the Pipelife Team will always be on hand to talk to your installer, electrician or builder and answer any queries they may have. Finally, to give our customers complete peace of mind following the full installation, a Pipelife Engineer will commission your new heating system. This will ensure that the unit is installed correctly and is set up to run optimally for your needs. The homeowner will also be given a demonstration on how the system operates and how to run it thus giving the homeowner peace of mind in the complete installation.
Speaking about the project Donna commented – “Pipelife have been extremely helpful throughout the whole building process and answered any questions or concerns that we had. They talked us through all aspects of our heating system and how it would operate and really put our minds at ease that we were making the right choice. With Brexit and Covid all happening we really found having a local supplier like Pipelife very beneficial and helpful. They were always available to answer any questions or concerns that we ourselves or our builder and installer might have had. Now that we are finally in our house we are delighted with the choices that we made to go with underfloor heating and an Air to Water Heat Pump, from constant heat, instant hot water and ease of use we just love it…”
Jamie continued – “We found the Pipelife team to be very reliable and we are just really happy with the service and back-up that they have provided us and would just like to thank them for playing their part in making our new build into a family home that we hope to enjoy for years to come”.
Since installing the Pipelife Home Heating Solution Jamie & Donna have found the heating system to be very cost effective. Jamie commented “As a family we knew that we could trust Pipelife to heat our home and so far, we are very impressed with the cost savings we are making on our heating bills.”
To complete this beautiful new build project, the Hallahan’s opted for our Neo Smart System to control their heating system. Our Neo smart heating controls can be set to provide different room temperatures and different time intervals on individual heating zones, with the click of a button.

The heating solution you put in your home is a long term decision that you will live with for the lifetime of your home. Once installed it is very disruptive, disturbing and expensive to rectify any shortcomings. Given the expected long lifetime of the heating system it is critical that the company you choose will still be in operation over the long term.
It is very important therefore that the company you choose to provide your heating solution has a strong financial standing and a proven history.
